Brigitte Rodrigues
Born in Rhodesia, was very musical as a child. She started to play piano at the age of 3 until she eventually became a piano and music theory teacher, passing on her skills to a new generation. Brigitte spent 10 years playing and singing in bands and appearing in numerous theatre productions in Harare. In 1996 Brigitte played the blonde ‘Agnetha Faltskog’ in ‘The Abba Story’ as well as being a musical director for other shows. She did work as a session singer on various advertising jingles.
Brigitte and David got together in 2001 and toured Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia and Botswana. In 2006 they thought about recording new projects, the first of which was a Celtic music project called “Brogue” (also Brigitte’s nickname). Now based near Edinburgh in Scotland, their first album ‘Rhythm of the Celts’ has earned them a Silver disc award, in recognition of CD sales achieved in the UK and they have since released many more albums in Scotland. Brigitte and David have also had some online success with their song ‘Bougainvillea (We don’t Like Bob)’ which enjoyed over 30 000 plays on YouTube!
